During my time at Framingham State, I would always walk past Larned Hall and notice a mysterious room - a room with “E-Sports Lounge” on the window with a dozen gaming PCs that I assumed were for student use.

Every time I passed by this mysterious room, my curiosity to explore rapidly grew.

Now jump to Spring 2026. I recruited my buddy Dylan Santos to explore this space with me.

I’m glad that we went because I can confidently say it was the most fun I've had in a while!

After we used our student IDs to scan in, we had full access to the space.

Dylan and I used his personal account to log in so we would have fast access to our games.

After logging in, I was a little hesitant to download anything because I wouldn’t want to be the person who installs a virus on a school computer.

I enjoyed the amount of space the room had to provide and found that the computers were stable with running games.

I was in love with the PCs they had to offer due to how user-friendly the login process was.

After a few hours of gaming, we noticed that nobody had been coming in or out.

Now, I thought to myself that it might have been the timing of the day.

But it felt weird because you’d think somewhere like an E-Sports Lounge would have people constantly coming in and out.

This leads to my main critique of the E-Sports Lounge - the place feels hidden from the rest of the campus.

This isn’t to say that the location needs to be changed, but that students who don’t pay attention to their surroundings might not notice the existence of the lounge.

My second critique is that the space feels barren and could use some decorations to spruce up the environment.

Assuming the room is full, there’s no space for other people to watch if there’s an event like an E-Sports tournament taking place.

To be fair though, if only a handful of students are using the room, then it makes no sense to put furniture in it.

My last critique is that in terms of temperature, the lounge feels like a sauna.

After a few hours of gaming, I felt like I was sitting outside on a sweltering summer day.

But, in reality, it was a rainy April day.

People aren’t going to want to park themselves in a third space if there’s no control over the temperature. Nobody wants to work up a nasty sweat because they can’t change the temperature.

I wish I had found out about the E-Sports Lounge earlier in my time at Framingham State.

Having access to free amenities step away from your dorm is a blessing that more students should make use of.

With a little bit of decoration and social media posting from the right people, this space has potential to be a banger of a hangout spot for students and clubs.

If any gamers need a campus side quest to experience, then consider going AFK at the E-Sports Lounge.
